Two ladies lose their spouses in fatal road accidents caused by reckless motorbike riders and are faced with traditional responsibilities. Bemsimbom, one of the widows falls victim to the demands of tradition. Consequently, she is forced to marry her lazy nephew-in-law who succeeds her husband. On her part, Ankiambom, the other widow, refuses to bow to this gruesome system of succession. She rather decides to put up a battle not only to protect her children and herself from this bad system but also to put an end to matrilineal succession in the tribe and rescue other women who might soon undergo the same torments like Bemsimbom.
